A study of symbols in the architecture of the Yaroslavl region — what is popularly known as "ornamentation most wise." To protect the home from hostile external forces, our ancestors surrounded themselves with talismans. Almost all of them were inspired by the plant world. The object of study is botanical motifs in building facades, window frames, stone carving, and tiles. The project pays particular attention to Red Book plants, whose preservation is no less important than the preservation of the cultural heritage of the Yaroslavl region.
By comparing real plants of the Yaroslavl region with their architectural interpretations, it was shown how nature is preserved in the urban environment in the form of cultural memory.
